Rarely a gaming gadget with premium features, ergonomic design, and outstanding performance comes in a medium price tag. Razer Tartarus V2 is an all-in-one gaming keypad that offers all these options at an affordable price.

With just a slight difference from Tartarus Pro (that houses Optical switches), the Tartarus V2 is one of the best gameboards, which have a firm grip over their market value. The reason is that the pad comes with the most dominating mechanical membrane switches, which provide maximum performance and tactile feedback. The presence of tactile switches is actually the most demanding feature in the gaming community as compared to the clicky switches and the linear switches.

Every gamer knows that Razer accessories are famous for their RGB lighting and appealing design. Both features are apparent in Tartarus V2 that offers adjustable wrist position and RGB lighting features.

At the same time, the pad has 32 programmable keys, which you can set according to your gaming preference. Moreover, the Macros are programmable, and you can reset all the keys as per needs. This will be a perfect advantage to use the keys without any confusion. Additionally, the V2 keypad offers a thumb switch and a perfectly positioned scroll wheel which would, definitely, increase your gaming performance.

Like its predecessors, the Tartarus V2 comes with a programmable D-pad that allows placing the thumb in 8 different positions for a greater level of comfort. Similarly, this model has 15 multi-touch keys and a versatile backlit feature that offers 16.8 million colors. The V2 offers 8 customizable profiles that you can set according to your gaming requirements.

The design is highly ergonomic and offers a perfect fit and comfort due to its resemblance to the human palm. The only downside in its design is its plastic material which, most obviously, is common in all gamepads. Though the material is durable and well furnished, it still gives a cheap look.

Final thoughts

Whether you are playing RPG games, FPS, RTS, or MMO games, the Razer Tartarus V2 won’t let you down in any aspect. This is purely designed to provide an extra level of support, comfort, and performance with its cutting-edge technology.

Unlike other keypads, the Redragon K585 DITI offers premium features at the lowest possible price. This is the reason we added it to our list of high-end gaming keypads.

Not only the Redragon K585 DITI comes with an appealing design, but also provides greater comfort due to its ergonomic shape. There are about 43 whopping keys, of which 7 macros are programmable. Not all keys are programmable, yet the addition of 7 such keys makes it worth buying a keypad.

Equipped with plastic material, the Redragon K585 DITI is a decent keypad that has Outemu Blue switches. The blue switches, as already discussed, are noisy switches but very effective in performance. You have to sacrifice the quietness feature for greater precision.

We were happy to see the detachable magnetic wrist rest, USB Pass-through port in this keypad. The wrist rest is nicely built and ergonomic in shape to offer a higher level of comfort.

Interestingly, this low prices keypad comes with 5 customizable modes of RGB backlighting. The RGB lighting effects were somewhat similar to the ones produced by Razer. One thing worth noticing is the greater sensitivity of the keys. In this price range, we were not expecting such optimal feedback of keys.

Final thoughts

Overall, the Redragon K585 DITI is perfectly built and highly ergonomic and affords an extra level of performance at a nominal price.

Another would be famous brand in gamepads is GameSir. Though less popular among gamers, the GameSir is trying its fullest to provide the affordable gaming keypad worth buying. The GameSir GK100 is a testament to the company’s endeavors.

Compact in design and innovative in look, the keypad looks like a keyboard. Equipped with 34 fully programmable keys, the switches are precise in action and allow customization of its four macros keys and save them according to a gaming plan. The good thing is that the keys are mechanical, offer little noise though tactile in design.

This is actually a small gaming keyboard for one-hand use, as the name suggests. Despite having plastic material and low price, the keypad looks premium and sleek, durable, and comfortable.

Unlike other gamepads, the Gk100 is equipped with a detachable wrist rest, which means you can put your hands according to your position and remove the wrist rest if required. Sadly the keypads backlights lack RGB effects but yes, with 8 different presets, there is an LED-backlit that allows mimicking the RGB effect.

Final thoughts

The downsides of GameSir GK100 are not so much. It only comes with blue switches, which means more noisy switches than the other quieter ones. In addition, its wrist rest lacks cushioning that reduces its comfort level for longer gaming sessions. But overall, the keypad is reliable for small hands to play long gaming sessions.

Reasons to Buy

  • Natural Ergonomic Design and grip
  • Most comfortable keys
  • LCD display to show game stats
  • Stores up to 5 gaming profiles using Onboard memory

Reasons to Avoid

  • Add-on Joystick lacks ambidextrous design
  • Display distracts attention while playing
  • Costly

The next gamepad on our list is from the most famous brand, ”Logitech”. Having earned its reputation in gaming mice and keyboards, the company is successfully getting fame in gameboards. The Logitech G13 Programmable gaming keypad is a testament to this success story.

The G13 is a performance-oriented, premium quality gamepad that is built keeping in view the shape of the hands and fingers. It means a greater level of comfort and precision in long gaming sessions.

Best in features and excellent in performance, the G13 still beats most of the gaming keypads available in the market. Not only is the design based on the natural shape of hands, but the presence of onboard memory on an LED screen puts it at a competitive advantage against competitors. The onboard memory is quite helpful, allowing 5 customizable gaming profiles to play perfectly.

Like other best gamepads, the G13 comes with 25 programmable keys. The keys are nicely built, give a natural feeling of hand, and produce no sound while pressing. As the keys are programmable, you can create and save the macros for a better gaming experience as per your needs.

The lighting is quite impressive and not much shiny to affect eyes in dim light. We were able to adjust the light when we were using it in low light. The variety of different color choices are good to precisely locate and click the keys comfortably.

Another feature that attracted us was the add-on joystick. Though we did not consider it much helpful, it could prove a helping hand in RPG gaming.

The downside of the joystick is its placement just below the buttons on the right side, which distracted my attention a lot of times whenever I tried to use it for navigation or movement of troops. If you have experience using the add-on joystick earlier, this addition could be very helpful.

One thing worth noting about this gamepad is the presence of a GamePanel LCD display. The display is average and helpful to show system info, game stats, and your chat with your fellow player. But remember, the display may distract your attention and prove to be disastrous for your gaming experience. Use it when there is no danger around your player.

Final thoughts

Overall the Logitech G13 is the best gamepad that comes with a fascinating LCD display, 25 programmable keys, and five customized gaming profiles to use for an extraordinary gaming experience. But the narrow keys may make it inappropriate for people with long nails, So, have a look at these keyboards for long nailed persons.

Comparatively unknown company in the gaming world than most popular brands, with T9X keypad, the Xfuny has successfully managed to be the best brand in gaming keypads. Introducing an inexpensive keypad by Xfuny that offers a quality build and impressive performance is really commendable.

Although the company is not so popular among gamers, it doesn’t matter, conditioned that you are getting as great a keypad as offered by a reputable company. Priced under $50 and 6 months money-back guarantee are the two appealing points about this keypad.

Well, this isn’t enough: a perfect mimic of a classic keyboard, with a higher ergonomic and performance-oriented one-handed keyboard, will be in your hands. In addition, like other great keypads, this one also comes with an RGB feature to avoid hitting the wrong key and to beautifully light up your environment in the dark.

Sorry about programming, this feature is programmable, but as the software is in the Chinese language, you will face a language barrier. Still, the company hasn’t released software in the English language, which is the downside where the company needs to focus in the future. Overall, the design is medium-sized, ergonomic in shape, and covered with a non-slip mat under the wrist to prevent slipping in long gaming hours. The keys are durable and optimally spaced to avoid any wrong click and to increase your gaming experience. Besides, the presence of 4 groups of special keys is really nice for fps gamers.

Performance

If you’re a professional gamer or passionate about gaming, you must know that a gaming keypad helps enhance your game by helping you move your characters during a game quickly and with much ease. You won’t tire out by having to use other means to move the characters.

Having a high-performance keypad will not only increase your chances of winning, but you will also have fun during a game if you’re using a gaming keypad. Most gaming pads promise greater precision, accuracy, comfort, and practical action during a game.

Furthermore, if you’re searching for the best keypad brand in terms of performance, as it is one of the most important features one should look for, you should opt for the Razer Orbweaver Chroma Elite RGB. It promises to take your game to the next level along with special features.

Switch types

Firstly, we have the option of mechanical membrane switches, which provide maximum performance and tactile feedback. These offer a satisfying typing experience as they’re much easier and faster to type on. Moreover, you won’t have to put in much effort as they’re more responsive to keystrokes and offer more preciseness.

Next, we have the Outemu Blue switches, which are known to have excellent performance. They have a light feel which is ideal for fast typing and gaming professionals. These switches not only give you an audible click but a tactile bump as well. They offer more than 50 million clicks and high durability compared to other switches. However, is it possible that you might find these switches to be a little noisy?

Razer Tartarus Pro is a programmable gaming keypad that offers analog optical switches. These switches are lighter and responsive, making them a good option for gaming. Moreover, these switches are 30ms faster than mechanical switches, which makes them superior.

Wired or wireless

Are you looking for a wireless gaming keypad so that you can sit back and relax while you and your friends team up for gaming marathons? A wireless gaming keypad will provide you with comfort and easy access and let you sit anywhere in the room without wiring acting as a barrier.

Furthermore, the exciting part is that all of the keypads listed above have different lighting, such as RGB, one-backlight, and shades of yellow and orange.

FPS Feature

An FPS gaming keypad will enable your fingers to move faster and comfortably. That way, you will have to spend less time looking down and focus more on the screen and the intense game.

If an fps keypad mode is a must-have, we would suggest that you go for a Razer Tartarus gaming keypad, as when selecting the fire-mode, it feels like you are handling a real-life gun.

Size

Even though most gaming keypads are available in standard sizes, we suggest that you go for a keypad that can be adjusted on your computer table. If you have less space, then choosing a mini gaming keypad will be more practical.

Similarly, if you have a larger space available, you can choose a larger size.

Price

  1. Have you had the opportunity to review the Periloot Caravel? Is there a reason it did not make your list? My guess is it was not available for you to review?

        • Hello Dimitah, we understand your concerns. However, the problem is that none of the reputable companies has introduced the new model of gaming keypad. However, we are testing a few low-profile options and one of them is best for PS4. So, please stay with us. Hopefully, in the next update, you’ll find the exciting stuff.

      • Hy Mathew Brafrord i want ask a question. Please guide me about programmable Keys or types of switches what is this in any gamming keyboard specification. I am beginner. I am waiting for your reply.

  2. Why put the Logitech G13 on a list when it’s discontinued? The few available are typically list for $400+. Even a used G13 will go for $200 if the person knows what they have. Logitech seems to refuse to come out with a successor. Would be great if someone else came out with a gamepad with a true analog thumbstick.

    • Hi Flughn,
You are absolutely right. The Logitech is G13 is massively overpriced and this prohibit any normal gamer to buy this gameboard. However, the good thing is that this is one of the few gameboards with screen. The performance as well as screen addition compelled us to add it in the list of best gameboards.

  3. Its “discontinued” which means you cannot buy it, so why add it to this article? Why waste readers time reading about something they cannot buy it. Pointless.

  4. The Periloot Caravel is the greatest gaming keypad to date. the ergonomics are outstanding. if you are familiar with QMK firmware; it’s possible to program the caravel to use all the fancy layer shifts and tap-dance features that are available to all those custom keyboards. It sadly does not have any sort of backlighting, but due to the unusual ergonomics, it’s basically impossible to lose your place on it. Someone needs to sponsor Sean Wilson, the designer, so that this brilliant design will become available to more people. it fundamentally altered the way that i play FPS. i moved my ADS key to my keyboard hand and you would be shocked to feel how much using ADS with your mousing-hand fouls your body’s ability to snap precision shots from muscle memory or guided by positional audio. for lack of a better term, it’s a game changer.
